PUTNAMVILLE -- An Indianapolis woman is housed at the Putnam County Jail after apparently attempting to traffic drugs with an Putnamville Correctional Facility inmate.

Sherita Brown

Sherita Brown, 32, was attempting to visit with offender Marvin Ford when she allegedly attempted to give him 34 small strips believed to be suboxone, approximately nine grams of white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine and 1.9 grams of synthetic marijuana in a sealed package.

She was arrested by a correctional police officer after she surrendered the contraband and was transported to the Putnam County Jail for booking.

Her charges include three Level 5 felonies -- attempted trafficking narcotics with an inmate, possession of cocaine and possession of suboxone -- as well as an A misdemeanor charge of possession of synthetic marijuana.

"Great job by all of our staff and the entire Office of Investigation and Intelligence," PCF Superintendent Brian Smith said. "This is just an example of how great communication and investigative work pays off. "

Marvin Ford is currently serving a 30-year sentence for attempted murder out of Marion County and has a current release date of July 29, 2023.

Ford is currently in restricted housing under investigation.
