Olympic silver medal diver Steele Johnson and Purdue head diving coach and U.S. Olympic assistant coach Adam Soldati will be the featured speakers at a Thursday, Nov. 17 dinner program sponsored by the Purdue Club of Putnam County.

The 6:30 p.m. dinner at Autumn Glen Senior Community is open to the public.

Johnson is an Indianapolis native and is currently training with Soldati at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Johnson and David Boudia won the silver medal at Rio de Janeiro in the men’s 10-meter synchronized platform diving competition.

Although already an Olympic medalist, Johnson exercised an Olympic Practice Waiver last season and is competing as a sophomore during the 2016-17 season.

A California native and Indiana University graduate, Soldati came to Purdue in 2005 and has since been named NCAA Coach of the Year four times and Big Ten Coach of the Year seven times.

Soldati helped coach Boudia in the 2012 Olympic games at London and coached both Boudia and Johnson in the 2016 games at Rio de Janeiro.

The diving record books at Purdue have been rewritten, with all 30 positions on the top 10 list for the springboards and the platform now occupied by Soldati-coached divers.

Cost of the dinner is $20 per adult and $10 per student. Reservations should be made by Nov. 14 by contacting Sandy Williams (653-3523), Ron Birt (526-2466) or Marianne Ash (386-7554).
