County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 9:43 p.m. Nikki Renee Pemberton, 31, Greenwood, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:14 p.m. Richard Eric Jones, 33, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a warrant for auto theft.

Tuesday

• At 2:47 a.m. Donald Jerome Gettelfinger, 19, Greencastle, was arrested for battery resulting in bodily injury, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:03 a.m. Tuesday, Hope Leanne Rush, 45, Cloverdale, was arrested on four charges by Capt. Chris Jones behind the Goodwill and Rescued Treasures stores off Indianapolis Road.

Rush, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, was arrested on Level 6 felony counts of theft, possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe, as well as a B misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to Capt. Jones’ report, Rush was charged with theft for allegedly taking donated items left behind the thrift stores as well as for dumpster diving on their property.

• At 6:43 p.m. Tuesday, James Richard Lamb, 36, Coatesville, was arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt at a Castlebury Apartments residence.

Lamb was booked into the Putnam County Jail on a county warrant for failure to appear.

City officers also investigated five recent traffic accidents.

• At 12:33 p.m. Monday, a two-car mishap was reported on the Arby’s restaurant lot off Indianapolis Road.

Capt. Jones reported that Donovan Meadows, 23, Greencastle, was pulling into the drive-through lane in a 2005 Toyota Corolla at the same time as a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Konrad Rula, 18, Chicago, was backing from a parking space.

Rula failed to see the Meadows car, police said.

The collision resulted in an estimated $1,000-$2,500 damage.

• At 10:50 a.m. Monday, a car-deer accident occurred on Veterans Memorial Highway, east of the Buzzi Unicem entrance.

John Harlan, 82, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 2002 Toyota Rav-4 when a deer ran out in front of him.

The accident resulted in damage estimated at $2,500-$5,000, Officer Nick Eastham reported.

• At 7:44 a.m. Oct. 28, a two-vehicle accident was reported at Percy Julian Drive and East Washington Street.

Michael Scott, 43, Greencastle, was turning left in a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer when his vehicle was reportedly struck by a 2014 Ford Edge, driven by Larry Oliver, 69, Greencastle.

Officer Darrel Bunten’s report indicated Oliver failed to stop at the stopsign.

Total damage was listed at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:55 a.m. Oct. 28, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Bloomington and Seminary streets.

Cynthia White, 40, Greencastle, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt when she struck the rear of a 2011 Republican trash truck, driven by Alexander Sober, 33, Cloverdale.

Officer Bunten listed total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:29 a.m. Oct. 28, a two-vehicle accident occurred on the Heartland Automotive parking lot at 300 S. 10th St. as Joshua Christian, 34, Greencastle, was pulling into the parking area in a 2004 Dodge truck and did not see a 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by Sarah Patterson, 59, Greencastle.

Impact sent the Patterson car into a parked 1997 Dodge pickup owned by James Winn, Brazil.

Total damage in the accident was listed by Sgt. Ed Wilson as $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches and one medical run.

• At 9:33 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 821 Indianapolis Rd. GFD determined the alarm had been set off unnecessarily by construction/maintenance being performed in the area.

• At 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD rescued a cat from a tree at 112 S. Madison St.

• At 2:37 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. Dust in the detector head was found to be the cause. GFD cleaned the detector head and subsequently returned to station.
