Quilts of Valor ceremony set for Saturday
BAINBRIDGE -- The public is invited to a Quilts of Valor Award Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Life Spring Church, located on U.S. 36, west of Bainbridge.
A representative of the Quilts of Valor Organization, Kim Disbro, will be in charge of the program with help from the quilt club.
The One Stitch at a Time Extension Club sponsored a quilt block contest during the 2016 Putnam County Fair.
Rules for the contest were that the squares be red, white and blue as well as specific dimensions and pay $5 entry fee to help cover quilting expenses.
The squares have been made into quilts to honor each exhibitor's named service man or women and will follow the guidelines for the National Quilts of Valor Program that honors living service men and women.
Several local veterans will be honored with a quilt.
Refreshments will be served.
