Cash: Fillmore water plant to receive various improvements

Friday, November 11, 2016

FILLMORE -- Town Maintenance Director Joe Cash delivered a report on improvements to the Fillmore Water Plant during the November Fillmore Town Council meeting.

The improvements were the replacement of the electronics board (computer system) and transmitters that control the water level in the water tower. Total costs for the improvements are $29,000.

“Everything in that plant is completely new,” Cash said. “So it’ll be another 20 years until we have to do anything to it.”

Cash also reported that he plans to clean up the area around the maintenance shed that houses town equipment.

In other developments:

-- Community Game Night: Clerk-Treasurer Gilson announced there would be another Community Game Night on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 6-10 p.m. in the Fillmore Town Hall.

-- Police car repairs: Town Marshal Darrel Bunten reported that the cost to repair a police car, which had been estimated at $800, cost less than $500. Another car is set to be repaired in the near future, but no cost estimate was available.

-- Putnam Street: A cost estimate from West Central Contracting to completely repair Putnam Street had come in at $50,000 to $55,000.

“We don’t have that much,” President Curt Leonard said. “We’ll have to do sections of it. We won’t be able to do the whole road at once.”

President Leonard also said he hopes to have the work done before winter.

The next Fillmore Town Council meeting is set for Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Fillmore Town Hall.
