Banner Graphic/ERIC BERNSEE Joining in a groundbreaking celebration Saturday morning as the winds whipped through the new Whispering Winds subdivision site in Greencastle are (from left) Cassie Zentko, NeighborLead Real Estate; listing agent Eric Wolfe of the Eric Wolfe Team at F.C. Tucker/Schneider Realty; Global Construction Management builder developer Jared Grable; Mayor Bill Dory; North Salem State Bank (NSSB) Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending Michael Clampitt and NSSB President Matt Howrey.

Greencastle is getting its first new housing addition in several years, which means Putnam County homebuyers now have more options in the local housing market.

Whispering Winds is a new 30-acre subdivision among mature trees and fields near the Ivy Tech Community College campus on Greencastle’s southeast side.

The wind may have been whipping more than whispering Saturday morning but that didn’t keep Greencastle native Jared Grable, the developer and builder of Global Construction Management, and listing broker Eric Wolfe of The Eric Wolfe Team at F.C. Tucker, from joining Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory and others to break ground on the first phase of Whispering Winds.

Located behind Woods Edge subdivision off Zinc Mill Road and County Road 200 South, Whispering Winds features several different three-bedroom, and four-bedroom floor plans with more than 50 different lots to choose from and a starting price of $149,900.

Buyers will be able to choose their desired upgrades and finishes so each home will be customized. Roads and infrastructure are scheduled to be built first, with four model homes and pre-sold homes to follow. The builder will work with buyers who have homes to sell or trade.

“We are going to build quality homes that Greencastle and our neighbors can be proud of,” said Grable, owner of Global Construction Management and builder at Whispering Winds. “Whispering Winds will meet a housing need locally and assist our town in growing and staying competitive with other Indiana communities.”

Grable is a Greencastle High School graduate. His company, Global Construction Management, is the builder for this project and also can assist clients with other construction needs.

“Homebuyers in our area have wanted newly built custom homes and Whispering Winds is going to fill that niche market with a wide range of prices and home sizes that should meet nearly every buyer’s needs,” noted Wolfe, the listing broker. “Now, our homebuyers have a great new-build option and our local real estate agents have more inventory to sell.”

Wolfe, a Greencastle resident and DePauw University graduate, has more than 10 years of experience selling real estate and leads the Eric Wolfe Team at F.C. Tucker/Schneider Realty. He is joined by Sue McCune, a long-time Greencastle resident and business owner.

Buyers should contact Wolfe or McCune at 765-653-HOME for more information on how to purchase a new home in Whispering Winds and arrange for a confidential meeting to discuss needs and wants for a new home. Buyers who act now will have the first choice of building lots and have homes finished in the spring, Wolfe said.

  • They could've come up with a better name, there's already a Whispering Winds Subdivision in Cloverdale.
