James 'Jim' Ray Wright
James "Jim" Ray Wright, 74, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 in Danville, Ind.
Born Aug. 6, 1942 in Letcher County, Ky., he was the son of Brose Wright and Laura (Hall) Wright.
Jim had worked for the city of Greencastle as street commissioner for 18 years, retiring in March 1999.
He was known as one of the best street commissioners in years. He had started the fundraiser for the park on Berry Street in Greencastle and also for the first Humane Society.
He had attended the Putnamville Abundant Life Baptist Church.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.
He loved karaoke but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Juanita (Ward) Wright, Greencastle; children Cindy L. Cruces (Adolfo), Indianapolis, Gloria Carpenter, Greencastle, James L. Wright, Greencastle, Flora G. Webster, Tennessee, James V. Wright (Mary), Greencastle, Greg R. Wright, Bloomington, Mike Edward Rogers (Phyllis) Putnamville, Kimberly Sue Chaney (Darren), Putnamville, and Jay Rogers (Megan), Staunton; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Charles and Burley Wright; stepbrother Franklin Mullins and stepsister Sheila Mullins.
His parents, first wife Linda (Hagan) Wright and a grandson, Malachi Hodge, preceded him.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 in the Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Floyd officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
