James H. "Jim" Summers, 85, of Avon, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at his home.

Jim was born Oct. 15, 1931 in Indianapolis to Harry W. and Martha W. (Obenchain) Summers.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Jim married Mary Love Clodfelter of Greencastle in 1950. He then married Darlene Sue (Wallace) Sisk in 1976.

He was the director of operations for the Danville Community School Corp. bus transportation from 1975-96.

Jim was a member of the Danville Christian Church, the Danville Masonic Lodge No. 26, past master of the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge No. 75, the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley, and the Murat Shrine.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sue; his former wife, Mary; children Deborah (Brian) Treadway, Colorado, Douglas (Kathleen) Summers, California, Jerretta (Chuck) Gilman, Florida, Jennifer Richard, Danville, Douglas (Wendy) Sisk, Danville, Lora (Jeff) Lockwood, Iowa, Angela (Kevin) Norman, Ohio, and Jeffrey (Karen) Summers, Danville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, David Summers, Lebanon; and a sister, Marcia Zimmerman, Bainbridge.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Danville Christian Church with visitation there from noon until the time of service.

Contributions maybe given to the Danville Christian Church or to one's favorite charity in memory of Jim.
