County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Tuesday.

• At 3:27 p.m. Patrica Lynn Withrow, 31, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 2:36 p.m. Abdulal Ghazi Alkhabbaz, 25, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to three recent property-damage accidents.

• At 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Kristina Marie White, 41, Terre Haute, was northbound on Manhattan Road just south of County Road 575 South in a 1997 Toyota Camry. Anthony W. Rollo, 37, Brazil, was southbound in a 2016 Dodge Caravan.

Rollo told Pettit that the other vehicle came left of center and sideswiped his vehicle. He said the car then did not stop, continuing north before traveling east on County Road 575 South.

Maj. Dwight Simmons located White a short time later on County Road 300 West, just north of 575 South.

White told deputies she looked down, causing her to drive left of center. In the process, she sideswiped Rollo’s vehicle.

She said she did not know what she hit but immediately left the scene.

White was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 2:48 p.m. for driving while intoxicated.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 8:55 a.m. on Monday, Arthur E. Kenworthy, 60, Reelsville, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2004 Chevrolet Express, stopped behind a vehicle turning left into Don’s Garage.

Glen A. Fellers, 46, Paris, Ill., was also northbound in a 2005 International semi tractor. Fellers told Capt. Tom Helmer he saw Kenworthy stopped but when he applied his brakes they felt “funny” and he was unable to stop, rear-ending Kenworthy’s van.

Fellers told Helmer he’d had issues with the radiator and coolant earlier in the day and believes the coolant sprayed onto his brakes.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 12:50 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, Alan F. Jones, 83, Fillmore, was eastbound on Cemetery Road just east of Fillmore in a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Jones told Deputy Matt Biggs that as he crested a hill, he observed a Cintas box truck westbound in his lane of travel.

In order to avoid a collision, Jones told Biggs he moved to the right, into the parking lot of Liberty Industries at 130 E. Cemetery Rd. As he entered the parking lot, Jones was unable to stop, T-boning an unoccupied 2000 Dodge Ram registered to Justin Strange, Fillmore.

Michael P. Edmonds, 27, Indianapolis, driver of the 2003 Ford box truck registered to Cintas, told Biggs he was making a delivery to Liberty and looking for an entrance, but did not believe he was left of center.

A witness who was following Edmonds told Biggs that Edmonds was traveling left of center. She said it looked like he was slowing down to turn into Liberty but failed to stay in his own lane.

The Jones vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
