Sandra Sue Lucas, 77, of Cloverdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 peacefully at her home with her husband and family at her side.

She was born near Little Point on June 25, 1939 to Mary Lucille (Morgan) Sutherlin and Emmett George Sutherlin.

She graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1957.

She married Dave Lucas in 1993 and they shared 23 years together.

A longtime farmer, Sue also drove a school bus for the South Putnam School Corporation until she retired.

Her son also remembers fondly that she worked as a housekeeper for the Walker Motel during the 1970s.

She is survived by her husband, David Lucas; son Loren Salsman Jr.; daughter Tami Robinson and daughter Kim Nash (and husband John); son Tracy Brown-Salsman (and husband Tim); nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; plus her dear sisters, Wilma Holsapple, Joyce Hutcheson, Sheila O'Brien, Brenda Gibbs and sister-in-law Shirley Jean Sutherlin.

Kassidy Sutherlin gave compassionate home health care to her Aunt Sue.

She was preceded in death by her father Emmett and mother Mary, infant sister Lavanta Mae, sister Beverly Trumbo, sister Kathy Sutherlin, brother Ray Sutherlin, son-in-law Bob Robinson and daughter-in-law Sheila Salsman.

She was previously married to Loren Salsman, who passed away in 2015.

Sue was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6606, an avid quilter, crafter and cook.

She adored garage sales, camping and making her famous peanut butter fudge.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Mt. Hebron Church in Cloverdale, so please come early for visitation at 1339 W. County Road 1000 South, Cloverdale. Pastor Steve Ernest and Don Loftis will officiate.
