Aaron Charles Craft, 91, of Roachdale, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at his home with family by his side. He had been in failing health the past few years.

He graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1943 prior to serving in the Navy V-12 unit.

He was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church.

Aaron was born July 21, 1925 in Parke County to Charles and Flora (Jones) Craft.

On Sept. 30, 1945 he married Barbara Kelly in Russellville. Aaron and Barbara met at Turkey Run Inn where he worked as a baker and she was head hostess.

The couple owned the Waveland Restaurant before moving to Greencastle where Aaron went to work for Omar Bakery prior to working for Todd's Ace Hardware in Greencastle. In January 1964, the couple purchased the Roachdale Hardware and continued to run this business until their retirement in June 1992.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Barbara of 71 years; a son, Keith (Susan) Craft of Roachdale; and a daughter, Linda Graves of Rockville. He has four grandchildren, Kevin Craft of Roachdale, Melinda (Scott) Long of Rockville, Cynthia (Kevin) Marquis of Lebanon, and Mark (Marci) Graves of Bloomingdale. He also has three great-grandchildren, Anthony Graves, Randi Marie Long and Jerrid Graves. Aaron also has one surviving sister, Myrtle Harper of Annapolis, as well as many extended family members.

Aaron was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon Craft, Virgil Craft, Clarence Craft and Ray Craft, as well as six sisters, Cecil Coonce, Mollie Mott, Martha Lindley, Vicey Craft, Katherine Cordelia Keller and Grace Taylor. He also had one half-sister, Goldie Byrd.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Roachdale Presbyterian Church, 14 N. Indiana St., Roachdale, with Pastor David Bower officiating. Burial will follow in Russellville Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 9 from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
