County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 4:01 p.m. Bambi Lynn Bicknell, 44, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for contempt of court.

• At 3:24 p.m. James Allen Lewis, 38, Covington, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 3:04 p.m. Michael Alan Neiner, 34, Greencastle, was charged with probation violation.

• At 12:39 p.m. Daniel J. Cull, 35, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a warrant for child molesting.

City Police

A 22-year-old Greencastle woman is facing theft charges following a reported shoplifting incident at the Greencastle Walmart store, City Police reported.

Kinsey Simpson allegedly concealed a variety of cosmetics, valued at $320, and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. She reportedly put some of the cosmetics in her purse, while others were found on her person.

Simpson was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee at 3:29 p.m. Wednesday and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to six recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Max W. Cassida, 61, Quincy, was southbound on County Road 250 East in a 2014 Chevrolet CZT when a deer ran into the side of his vehicle.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 10:55 p.m. on Monday, Taylor W. Kennedy, 19, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 725 East in a 2000 Saturn when he exited the corner and started to fishtail.

Kennedy told Deputy Anthony Brown he may have been going a little too fast and overcorrected after exiting the corner. As a result, the car left the east side of the road, hitting an electric fence.

The car then went down an embankment before coming to rest in a creek bed.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000. The car was towed.

• At 10:25 p.m. on Monday, Thomas L. Denney, 70, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 about 50 feet north of County Road 75 West when he struck a guardrail on the east side.

Deputy Freeman detected an order of alcohol. Indiana State Trooper David Cox administered field sobriety and portable breath tests. Denney tested at .20 blood-alcohol content.

Denney was transported to the Putnam County Jail and booked in at 11:50 p.m.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Deputy Brown also assisted at the scene.

• At 7:53 p.m. on Monday, Jill M. Moore, 55, Reelsville, was westbound on State Road 42 near county Road 550 East in a 2015 Jeep Renegade when a deer ran into the rear passenger door.

Deputy Brown estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, David W. Folck, 44, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of County Road 200 North in a 2001 Lincoln LS.

Folck told Deputy Matt Biggs he was passing a slow moving vehicle when he lost control due to wet conditions. He began to fishtail and the vehicle left the east side of the road, colliding with a utility pole.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Katelyn N. Jones, 20, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. Harold L. James, 65, Ossian, had just pulled onto 231 from County Road 200 North in a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado.

James told Deputy Biggs he saw Jones begin to fishtail. Her car spun 180 degrees in the road and hit the rear of Jones’ truck.

Jones said she was running late and lost control of her car due to wet conditions and a slight bend in the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 3:30 a.m. on Sunday Brianna K. Messer, 20, Peru, was northbound on U.S. 231 just south of State Road 236 in a 2016 Ford Fiesta when she hit a deer.

Deputy Jacob Harrington estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, Douglas D. Seamen, 43, Roachdale, was westbound on State Road 236 just east of County Road 775 East in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a cow.

Deputy Harrington estimated damage at $10,001-$25,000. The truck was towed.

• At 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, Sierra N. Kempf, 29, Greencastle, was westbound on State Road 240 in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Tara J. Campbell, 30, Greencastle, was also westbound in a 2008 Dodge Caravan.

Kemp told Capt. Tom Helmer she saw Campbell’s van approaching in her rearview mirror and then it struck the rear of her car.

Campbell said she had something in her eye and she failed to see Kempf’s vehicle, striking the left rear. She also said she was extremely tired.

Campbell was cited for driving with no license. Although it had previously been suspended, Campbell was eligible for reinstatement on Nov. 28.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000. Campbell’s vehicle was towed.

• At 3:50 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, Kristofer Bane, 32, Poland, was southbound on Manhattan Road about 1,500 feet south of County Road 300 West when he lost control of his 2002 Toyota MR2.

The vehicle traveled down a ditch, hitting a telephone pole, coming to rest on the east side of the road.

Bane admitted to traveling at speeds in excess of 95 mph. Deputies Freeman and Brown also detected the odor of alcohol.

He sustained minor injuries to his head but refused medical treatment and transport.

Bane was cited for the speed he had admitted to and released from the scene.

The car was towed due to totaling damage, which was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
