Greencastle Parks Department’s Snow Sculpture Contest under way

Tuesday, December 13, 2016

With the first accumulating snowfall of the 2016-17 season as the backdrop Tuesday, the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Snow Sculpture Contest is officially open for entries.

And the fun of playing in the snow is not limited to the Greencastle community. All Putnam County residents may participate in the contest.

The program is easy to participate in, just do the following:

-- Make a “Frosty Friend” whether it be a snowman, snow sculpture or snow creature.

-- Take a picture with your new “Frosty Friend” and make sure the builders are in a picture so they can be recognized.

-- Create a name for your “Frosty Friend.”

Submit the following information and a photograph to pcornelius@cityofgreencastle.com:

-- Entry title and category (select one for entry): Best Snowman, Best Snow Creature, Best Snow Sculpture.

-- Builders’ name(s) and gender.

-- Parents’ names.

-- Address (city and street).

Phone number (home, cell phone and work).

-- Email address.

Winners will be announced at the March 2017 Park Board meeting, set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at City Hall.

Anyone with questions about the contest may contact the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department at 653-3395 or at Assistant Park Director Phil Cornrelius at pcornelius@cityofgreencastle.com.
