West Central Solid Waste sponsoring tree recycling

Thursday, December 22, 2016

Christmas tree recycling is becoming a natural part of the way Putnam, Parke and Montgomery County residents can give back to Mother Earth.

Residents of the district wanting to recycle their natural trees may do so for free by dropping them off at any of the approved locations between Dec. 26 and Jan. 29.

By recycling their trees, residents help divert landfill-bound Christmas Trees to fish and wildlife habitat, erosion control and mulch for flower beds and trees.

Approved locations include:

• Putnam County/Greencastle yard waste site, 2363 S. CR 200 West, Greencastle.

• Lieber State Park office parking lot, 1317 W. Lieber Rd., Cloverdale.

• Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area, U.S. 36, Rockville.

• Rockville Lake Park, 828 N. Marshall Rd., Rockville.

• Crawfordsville yard waste drop-off site, 1109 N. Whitlock Ave., Crawfordsville.

Anyone wanting to use the trees collected at the Greencastle site for their pond, lake or to stop erosion on their property may call the WCSWD office at 653-2150 or 800-211-2750. All other trees will be used by the park or community affiliated with the collection site.
