BOYS
Monday in Wabash Valley Classic
Cloverdale (5-4) vs. Linton-Stockton (3-2)
Game time: 5:30 p.m. at Terre Haute South
So far: The Clovers have won three straight games after their 74-71 overtime win over Monrovia on Wednesday.
The Miners defeated Clay City 71-34 and Covington 60-55 in two overtimes to open the season, then lost 52-45 to Class 2A No. 1-ranked Barr-Reeve. Linton then defeated previously-unbeaten Shakamak 55-41 before losing 38-33 on Tuesday at Vincennes Lincoln.
History: Linton-Stockton defeated Cloverdale 63-49 last year in a tournament at Linton and 67-51 in the Wabash Valley Classic. Those are the only two recent meetings between the teams.
Scouting report: Cooper Neese of Cloverdale leads the state in scoring and passed the 2,000-point career scoring plateau in Wednesday’s game.
Linton-Stockton is led by senior guard Josh Dieball, who led the team with eight points in Tuesday’s loss.
GIRLS
Tuesday in Monrovia Tournament
Cloverdale (8-5) vs. Monrovia (8-7)
Game time: Noon at Monrovia.
So far: The Clovers have lost three of their last five games after starting the season 6-2.
The Bulldogs won their first three games of the season, and have also won their last two outings. They only went 3-7 between those two stretches.
History: Monrovia won both meetings last year, 61-45 in the championship game of this tournament and also 44-36 on Feb. 5.
South Putnam (8-4)
vs. Bethesda Christian (10-1)
Game time: 2 p.m. at Monrovia.
So far: The Eagles have lost twice on their homecourt to Greencastle, and also lost a 61-46 game at then-undefeated Owen Valley and 68-46 at home to Class 2A No. 5-ranked Cascade on Saturday.
Bethesda Christian’s only loss came 70-58 to Indianapolis Tindley on Dec. 8.
History: The teams have not played recently.
NOTE: The two losing teams play in the consolation game at 5, and the winners play at 7 in finals.
