Town Council, CTVFD seek fund solution

Friday, December 23, 2016

CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Township Trustee Dale Monnett again came forward to ask the Cloverdale Town Council for an extra $5,000 for the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department (CTVFD) during the recent regular meeting.

The CTVFD currently receives $15,000 from the town annually, but Monnett said his ultimate goal is to have the amount permenantly increased to $20,000.

The council responded that the time to ask for more funds is in June when the budget is being discussed, and Attorney Allan Yackey said that CTVFD would be more likely to receive funds if it needed them for a specific item or problem rather than for general operations.

The issue was tabled.

In other developments:

-- Claims: The board approved claims at a total of $386,674.33, an increase from last month of $238,063.75 and of $83,515.03 from the year’s average.

-- Jetting lines: Town Manager Wayne Galloway announced that UMAC will be jetting and cleaning lines in Stardust Way in January.

-- UV E. coli treatment: The council approved the purchase of a new UV E. coli treatment system at a cost of about $200,000.

A special meeting to discuss year end items will take place Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Cloverdale Town Hall.

The next regular council meeting is set for Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
