Girls’ sectional pairings drawn

Sectional play starts on Jan. 31 for Indiana high school girls’ basketball teams, and pairings were drawn Sunday for the 64 sectional sites.

Greencastle will play in the Class 3A Lebanon sectional, and will meet Western Boone in the quarterfinals. The Tiger Cubs and Stars have not yet met this season, but will play Saturday night at Greencastle.

The Tiger Cubs have the second-best win total with their 12-7 record, while Western Boone has a 10-8 record.

The tourney hosts have the best record in the seven-team field at 13-6.

At Cascade, the other three Putnam County schools will make up half of the field.

Cloverdale and North Putnam are paired in the tourney opener, while South Putnam will play the second game on opening night against Southmont.

The Clovers own a pair of wins over North Putnam this season, with 55-19 and 56-33 victories in November. South Putnam and Southmont met on Nov. 21, with the Eagles recording a 66-65 win.
