In the interest of improving the curriculum at her school, Dance Workshop owner TARA GARDNER recently completed training in Acrobatic Arts Syllabus.

Accrobatic Arts Syllabus classes will be added to the curriculum beginning Feb. 1 at the 10 N. Jackson St. studio.

Designed by studio owner Many Yip, the program teaches true acrobatics, not gymnastics, which is safer on a hard floor.

The program dovetails nicely with what Dance Worhsip has been doing all along except it is much more detailed in technique and progressions. It bridges the gap in technique from beginner through advanced dancers.

Experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sports acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, were consulted in creating the syllabus. Acrobatic Arts is endorsed by physiotherapists, professional dancers and professional acrobats including Cirque Du Soleil Acrobats.

Dance Workshop is currently one of only 13 certified Acrobatic Arts studios in the state of Indiana. There are 12 levels total divided into two modules. Dance Workshop is certified in Module One (levels ‘primary’ through 6) with intentions of completing certification in Module Two in the summer of 2017.

For more information on the program or anything else at Dance Workshop, contact Gardner at 247-9259.
