Police identify men involved in Bainbridge shooting
The two men involved in an early-morning Jan. 22 shooting in Bainbridge have been identified.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department has identified the two men as 52-year-old Rob Gibson and 55-year-old Troy Murphy.
The shooting took place at King Tiger British Motorcycle Repair on U.S. 36.
Gibson, the owner of the shop, reportedly shot Murphy around 1 a.m.
Murphy was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he remains but his condition had improved enough for PCSD detectives to interview him earlier this week.
The inability to speak to Murphy until that time kept authorities from releasing the names of the two men until the investigation was complete.
PCSD Det. Pat McFadden told the Banner Graphic on Wednesday that his investigation is now complete and the report will be turned over to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.
It will be up to Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter to determine if any charges are appropriate in the case. No arrest has been made to this point.
McFadden told the Banner Graphic there had been a longstanding dispute between the two men.
