Barbara J. (Cohn) Proctor, 80, of Reelsville, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, 2017, ending her valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was the daughter of John Allen and Grace Louise (Aker) Cohn, born April 25, 1936 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She married Jimmy A. Proctor on July 2, 1955, in Brazil, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.

She was widely known for being a wonderful person, both inside and out, for doing anything for anybody in need, and for her true, complete love of God, family and friends.

She was a 1953 graduate of Reelsville High School, and a 55-year member of the Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church.

Her working career started at Public Service Indiana (now Duke Energy) for eight years, then for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, serving 12 years as a clerk and 20 years as the postmaster of the Reelsville Post Office, until her retirement in 2000.

She had belonged to the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, and was a member of the Reelsville Alumni association. She volunteered on the church Social Service committee, Bible School, and as secretary doing the newsletter and Sunday bulletin for years.

Barbara greatly enjoyed working outdoors, mushroom hunting and taking care of her flowers and birds. One of her greatest enjoyments was her and Jimmy taking their grandkids to Disney World throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Cohn, aunts Marvise Aker and Lena (Reese) Job, and cousin Ronald S. (Judy) Job.

She is survived by husband Jimmy, her 100-year-old mother Grace, daughter Tracy (Jon) Britton, Reelsville, and "adopted daughter" Connie (Mike) Clodfelter, Heritage Lake, six grandchildren; Kaleb Britton, Kody Britton, Chip (Kandis) McCullough, Shannon "The Gold Brick" (Kati) McCullough, Jamie (Clint) Britton-Blanck, and Josh Britton, six great-grandchildren; Christian Hines, Alexis Hines, Hailey McCullough, JC McCullough, Hudson McCullough and Paxton McCullough, nephews, nieces and cousins; Larry (Linda) Jones, Trudi Thomson, Bob (Mary) Proctor, Jane Ervin, Kelly Job (Adam) Knicley and Tad (Kalina) Chew.

Barb had many, many children throughout her life that she considered her "kids."
