Ryan named NCAC Player of Week

DePauw senior guard Claire Ryan was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Ryan guided the No. 11 Tigers to two victories and secured the program’s 16th straight 20-win season, averaging 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game.

In the Tigers’ 61-50 win over Hiram, Ryan posted 18 points, seven rebounds and six steals in 34 minutes of action. Then in the 99-54 win over Allegheny, Ryan scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Ryan has appeared and started in all 22 games for the Tigers. She is second on the team at 11.2 points per game and is first with 58 assists, 50 steals and 18 blocks. Her 2.3 steals per game ranks her second in the NCAC and her 2.6 assists per game puts her seventh.

DePauw is currently 21-1 overall and 13-0 in the NCAC. They are just one win shy of clinching at least a share of the NCAC regular season title for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

The Tigers host Denison at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
