Willis C. ‘Bill’ Lundy

Willis C. “Bill” Lundy, 86, of Greencastle, passed away Sunday Feb. 12, 2017.

He was born in Switz City on July 25, 1930 to Charles and Macel Wright Lundy.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Johnson Lundy.

Bill was a graduate of Switz City High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy on the ship USS Wright CVL-49 and U.S. Air Force.

He worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections Putnamville Penitentiary for 43 years as the custody supervisor with the rank of Major.

He was a member of Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved spending time with his family. He had a passion for fishing, mushroom hunting, ginseng hunting and yard sales.

He is also survived by daughter Terry (David) Bruner; son Daniel; two grandchildren, Brock (Tracey) Bruner and Brier (Michael) Irk; and two great-grandchildren Caroline and Kathleen Bruner.

Also surviving are two brothers, Robert and Frank Lundy, one sister, Sarah (Wayne) Hollingsworth, and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, brother James and son John preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor John Cloe officiating. Interment with honors will follow at Putnamville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
