Marjorie Jean Houston, 88, of Greencastle, passed away at her residence on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, 2017.

She was born on Feb. 10, 1929 at Ladoga to James Franklin and Lena Barr Carmichael.

She was a lifetime member of the Ladoga Christian Church, Wishard Hospital Alumni Association and a proud member of the NRA.

Jean "Mike" graduated from Ladoga High School in 1946 and then graduated from the Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing. She then received her BA degree in psychology from St. Leo College in Florida.

Jean was passionate about nursing, working for five decades in hospitals in Indiana, Georgia, California and Florida.

After raising her children in Ladoga, she pursued her lifetime passion for travel, visiting 46 states and 10 countries.

She is survived by her four children, Paul N. (Julie) Houston, Brazil, Michael James Houston, Greencastle, Stacey Lynn (Dana) Houston, Indianapolis, and Eric Shawn (Gay) Orlando, Florida; sister-in-law Betty Carmichael of Ladoga,; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Carmichael; sister Nellie Isbell; an infant brother, James Keith; and infant sister Opal Ruth.

Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 in Ladoga Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Powell Officiating.

There will be visitation at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga, from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the graveside.
