County Jail

One person was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Monday.

• At 7:47 p.m. Anthony J. Spiker, 34, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to four dispatches, one medical run and one lift assist.

• At 3:01 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to reports of a smoke scare at 36 W. Sunset Dr. The small, unauthorized burn was allowed to proceed though city ordinances were explained. GFD cleared the scene and returned to station at 3:15 p.m.

• At 10:04 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to another unauthorized burn, this time at 206 W. Washington St. GFD investigated the situation but found no violations and the resident was instructed to notify GFD before the next burn. GFD returned to station at 10:12 a.m.

• At 9:56 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to another unauthorized burn, this time at 712 Ravenwood Dr. Two large brush piles in the back yard of the residence were aflame upon arrival. GFD and the owner extinguished the flames and city ordinances were explained to the owner. GFD returned to station at 10:23 a.m.

• At 10:32 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to smoking at 504 E. Seminary St. GFD subsequently reset the alarm and returned to station at 10:45 p.m.
