Harold Chilcote

Harold Chilcote, 82 of Greencastle, passed away peacefully in the same home he was born in on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.

Harold was born Jan. 28, 1935 in his family home in rural Greencastle to Leland and Agnes (Roberts) Chilcote.

He was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army, but was discharged at the untimely passing of his father.

He was a lifelong farmer and worked for many years prior to his retirement at IBM.

He was a noted John Deere and antique collector. He had belonged to the Morton F&AM Lodge, and was a member of the John Deere Two Cylinder Club.

He is survived by his four children, Sheryle (Rick) Parrish of Greencastle, Teresa (Dennis) Fordice of Russellville, Sandra (Mark) Fordice of Russellville, and Allen Chilcote of Indianapolis; grandchildren Amanda (Matt) White, Laurel (Isaac) Nolan, Derick (Jill) Fordice, Macy Fordice, Cory (Nicole) Fordice, Lee (Lesli) Fordice and Jared (Shelby) Fordice; 12 great-grandchildren and niece Linda (Steve) Truax.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Betty Phipps, brother-in-law Wayne Phipps and nephew Larry Phipps.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 in Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Committal services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Brick Chapel Cemetery.
