Employees take on new roles at Putnamville Correctional Facility

PUTNAMVILLE -- A veteran Department of Correction employee was promoted at Putnamville Correctional Facility, while the prison also announced the hire of a new employee.

On Wednesday, Supt. Brian Smith announced the promotion and return of Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) Health Services Division contract monitor Esther Hinton to unit team manager.

Then on Friday, Jade Lishka was hired as secretary for the assistant superintendent of operations and the major.

Hinton started her career with the IDOC in 1993 as a correctional officer and was promoted to correctional sergeant in 2000. In 2002 she was promoted to correctional lieutenant and held that position until 2011, when she moved into the position as contract monitor and liaison between Corizon and the department.

Hinton has accomplished many achievements during her career with the department, including American Correctional Association auditor, program director, vulnerability assessment team coordinator, critical incident stress management team member, correctional police officer.

She also graduated from the Experienced and Emerging Leadership Program. She currently holds a bachelor degree from the University of Phoenix in organizational security and management.

“We are very pleased to have Mrs. Hinton on our team,” Smith said. “She is bringing with her professionalism and experience.”

Lishka comes to the Indiana Department of Correction with an associate’s degree from Ivy Tech Community College in office administration and another degree in diagnostic medical sonography.

Her most recent work history includes working as a preschool assistant teacher, a childcare provider and an office administrator.

“We are happy to have her on our team at Putnamville and are excited to see her achieve great things,” Smith said.
