VFW Auxiliary sets cancer benefit for March 11 at post

The fifth annual VFW Auxiliary Post 1550 cancer benefit is scheduled for Saturday, March 11 at the Greencastle VFW Post, 819 S. Jackson St.

The 5-11 p.m. event is open to the public.

All proceeds go the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Clinic.

A pulled pork meal with all the trimmings will be served 5-7 p.m. for $8 a plate.

In addition to the meal, Pig Pie Bingo (squares are being sold for $25 each) is scheduled for 5 p.m. with a live auction conducted by Fred Cox set for 7-8 p.m.

Live entertainment from Phillip Steven & Open Road is scheduled 8-11 p.m. with door prizes and raffles all evening.

This is the auxiliary’s fifth year of raising money to assist patients who require financial assistance when receiving cancer treatments.

Last year, $6,300 was raised during the event, the record to date. The goal this year is to raise $7,000.
