James Earl ‘Jim’ Daugherty

James Earl “Jim” Daugherty, 78, of Anderson went to be with the Lord after an extended battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

He was born Aug. 5, 1938 in Alexandria to Russell and Marie (Balser) Daugherty.

He served as lieutenant commander in the United States Navy, where he and his wife Linda (Cox) Daugherty were stationed in the Philippines after marrying at Pearl Harbor on Aug. 12, 1963.

He was business manager at Culver Military Academy in Culver and physical plant director at DePauw University in Greencastle before retiring in 2006 after 22 years.

He graduated from General Motors Institute in 1960 while working at Delco Remy and received his master’s degree in business administration from Ball State University.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Cox) Daugherty of Anderson; three sons, Eric, Kyle and Chad (Kat) Daugherty, all of Zionsville; six grandchildren, Austin, Britney, Anastasia, Alexis, Samantha and Nathan; sister Sharon (Robert) Dailey of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Service are set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, with Rev. Gary Klinger of First Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.
