Cornelia B. (Geabes) Ley, 97, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her home in Greencastle.

She was born Sept. 10, 1919 to Arthur Morgan Geabes and Helen Mae (Ash) Geabes in Greencastle.

She married the love of her life, Earl (Bud) Ley of Clay City, on May 14, 1947. They were married for 66 years until his death in May 2013.

Cornelia's work career included jobs in Greencastle, Clay City and retirement from General Housewares in Terre Haute.

She was a dedicated reader of Westerns and player of Solitaire.

Cornelia was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 60-year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Clay City.

Besides her husband and parents, Cornelia was preceded in death by her siblings, Wayne Geabes, Virginia Hetser and Doris Stites.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Kenneth) Conklin, granddaughter Christi (David) McClain, grandson Jeffrey Conklin, great-grandchildren Anna Koebcke, Nathan Koebcke and Myra McClain; sister-in-law Nadine Brock and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at Maple Grove Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 23.
