Juanita Newby, 86, of Cloverdale, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Mill Pond Health Campus.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1930 to the late Kenneth and Georgia Harris, in Crab Orchard, Ky.

On June 23, 1950 she married James "Jim" Newby, and he survives.

Early on she was a homemaker and active in farming operations with Jim.

Throughout the years, she worked primarily in customer service due to her love of meeting new people and striking conversations with complete strangers. Her final job prior to retirement was working for Cloverdale Schools Food Service Department.

While living in Florida from 1990 to 2002, she worked as a caretaker of elderly, many of whom suffered from Alzheimer 's disease. Ironically, this was the disease that afflicted her in later years and ultimately ended her life.

Juanita had an amazing and endearing love of family. She enjoyed telling stories about her family and friends and about her times growing up in Crab Orchard. A few of these stories were rumored to have been true. She always welcomed a joke, no matter the subject.

Juanita truly enjoyed traveling and experiencing many destinations throughout our country.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Ernest Newby, Stilesville, Ed Newby (Jo), Cloverdale, Diana "Dee-Dee" Morrissey, Indianapolis, and Donna (Brad) Scott, Brownsburg; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by

her sister, Patty Powers (Mike), of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Dora Sheehan.

A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
