County Jail

Fourteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 6:44 p.m. Michael Vanevery, 36, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 4:38 p.m. Logan Lee Wetzel, 24, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a Marion County warrant.

• At 3 p.m. Chasen Rain Lovell, 22, Delphi, was arrested on a parole violation.

• At 2:35 p.m. Nicole Marie Allen, 24, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a warrant for probation violation.

• At 1:54 p.m. Jeffrey Nelson Hallett, 50, Indianapolis, was booked in on a court order.

• At 11:36 a.m. John Thomas Crane (Smalley), 42, lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 9:06 p.m. Robert Lee Speck Jr., 26, Brazil, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 8:18 p.m. Rebecca Clarice Sears, 56, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for battery, resisting law enforcement and battery on law enforcement.

• At 6:58 p.m. Steven Ray Burnett II, 31, Rockville, was arrested on a local warrant.

• At 6:03 p.m. Damian Thomas-Franklin-Ray Weist, 21, Greenastle, booked in on a local warrant.

• At 2:13 p.m. Charles Allen Alexander, 31, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:43 a.m. Jacob Raymond Archer, 39, Greencastle, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy.

• At 4:36 a.m. Jack Morrell Beedie Jr., 54, Beech Grove, was arrested on a local warrant.

City Police

Three traffic citations were issued recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:19 p.m. Monday, Jennifer Hochstedler, 34, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer Amanda Long.

Stopped on South Jackson Street, Hochstedler was cited for 35 mph in a 20-mph zone.

• At 12:37 p.m. Monday, Chris Hutto, 39, Cloverdale, was cited by Reserve Officer Long.

Stopped at Berry and South Jackson streets, Hutto was ticketed for a seatbelt violation.

• At 12:59 p.m. Monday, Nicholas Zimmerman, 19, Cloverdale, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer Long.

Stopped on South Jackson Street, Zimmerman was cited for 35 mph in a 20-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to seven dispatches and two medical runs.

• At 2:42 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of an unauthorized burn at the storage buildings behind KFC (620 Tennessee St.). GFD observed that the fire was out upon arrival and returned to station at 2:52 p.m.

• At 3:18 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to shower steam at 800 S. College Ave., returning to station at 3:28 p.m. after reseting the alarm.

• At 10:19 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to reports of a gas leak at 654 S. County Road 125 West. A small leak from an underground gas line was detected and determined to have been caused by utility work in the area. Vectren was contacted, which informed GFD it would handle the situation. GFD subsequently returned to station at 1:41 p.m.

• At 11:22 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 1111 Avenue C. A resident had been burning leaves and shrubbery. GFD informed the resident of city ordinances concerning authorized burns inside city limits before returning to station.

• At 3:19 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2000 S. Jackson St. GFD was unable to determine the cause of the alarm, which was subsequently reset before GFD returned to station.

• At 9:10 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 200 W. Hanna St. However, no alarm was found upon arrival. GFD suspected the alarm may have been caused by an electrical surge as maintenance crews were working in the area. GFD returned to station at 9:21 a.m.

• At 11:19 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2 W. Seminary St. Again, no cause was found for the alarm. GFD returned to station at 11:40 a.m.

• At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to smoking at 402 Anderson St.

• At 10:21 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to reports of a gas leak at 202 S. Madison St. An excavating service employed the use of a boring machine, striking a natural gas line that released vague amounts of gas into the air. GFD monitored the air and temporarily evacuated two nearby residences.
