French Impressionism in art and in music aimed to capture glimpses of life's fleeting moments -- the vibrancy of the light on the Seine at sunrise, the serenity of a lily pond, or the conversations between wind and waves -- a celebration of the world moment-by-moment. Join us at 6:30 p.m. at Music on the Square for a full evening of all things French or drop in a little later to listen to the music of local Frenchman Claude Cymerman and friends--fellow pianists Anthony Weinstein and Émile Naoumoff (IU Jacobs School of Music). As seating is limited to the first 80 participants, advance tickets are requested.

Always an audience favorite when the winners of the School of Music's annual concerto competition perform as guest soloists with the DePauw University Orchestra. Among the outstanding student soloists this year are vocalist David Young '20, singing Mozart's "In quegli anni" from the opera "The Marriage of Figaro"; Amelia Smerz '20 performing the second movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto and Sungmin (Peter) Kim '17, who will play the first movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto. Closing the concert will be Jackson Bailey '18, performing the first and second movements of the Shostakovich Violin Concerto. Music director Orcenith Smith conducts the DePauw Symphony Orchestra.
