County Jail

Eleven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:56 p.m. Matthew Ryan Eversole, 35, Brazil, was lodged at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent.

• At 12:41 p.m. Nahosha Danille Love, 32, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 10:35 a.m. Charmaine Tatyonna Morgan, 24, Indianapolis, was arrested on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 4:07 a.m. Shane Robert Sweeney, 29, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person.

Saturday

• At 10:32 p.m. Daniel Vincent Kortz, 53, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant for driving with a suspended license.

• At 7:40 p.m. Michael Eugene Skinner, 44, Greencastle, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.

• At 4:34 a.m. April Dawn Middleton, 37, Springville, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 1:50 a.m. Riley William Joseph, 44, Mattoon, Ill., was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 12:11 a.m. Michael James Vance, 25, Greencastle, was arrested on an Owen County warrant for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

Friday

• At 6:33 p.m. Rolland Cory Jacobson, 24, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a pair of local warrants for possession of methamphetamine and false informing.

• At 3:25 p.m. Michael Gene Brault, 31, Poland, was booked in on an Owen County warrant.

City Police

Two drivers were issued a summons recently by Greencastle City Police.

• At 11:37 p.m. Sunday, Levi Stearley, 25, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Brad Hiatt on Zinc Mill Road.

Stearley was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 4:55 a.m. Saturday, Mike Acuff, 51, Terre Haute, was stopped on State Road 240 by Capt. Charles Inman.

Acuff was issued a summons for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

One citation was also issued recently by city officers.

• At 10:10 p.m. Friday, Amber Terry, 24, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Alec Pettit.

Terry was stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway for having an expired license plate (November 2016).

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to one recent property-damage accident.

• At 4:48 p.m. on Monday, Sandra R. Wells, 74, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2001 Hyundai Elantra in a heavy downpour.

Wells told Deputy Josh Boller she could not see the road because of the rain, which led to her car hitting a mailbox.

The car had to be pulled from a ditch.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to seven dispatches, one medical run and one lift assist.

• At 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. The alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to hair-care products. GFD reset the alarm and subsequently returned to station at 11:50 a.m.

• At 9 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2000 S. Jackson St. The alarm was determined to have been activated by a heat detector in the ductwork of the building, with which the residents had been already experiencing issues. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 9:19 p.m.

• At 9:05 p.m. and 10:16 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to two separate fire alarms at 110 E. Larrabee St. The cause of the first alarm was unable to be determined while the cause of the second alarm was deemed false. GFD subsequently returned to station at 9:15 p.m. and 10:34 p.m., respectively.

• At 10:28 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 414 S. Indiana St. and was back in service at 10:34 a.m.

• At 8:07 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to reports of a motor-vehicle accident with no injuries at 910 E. Washington St. (Greencastle High School). GFD was asked by the Greencastle Police Department to assist in the cleanup and removal of debris and fluids from the roadway, which, in this particular incident, was the high school parking lot. GFD subsequently returned to station at 8:43 a.m.

• At 1:36 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to reports of residents smelling gas in the area of 57 Putnam Plaza. GFD performed an odor investigation but determined the gas-like smell came from a concrete sealer currently in use with nearby construction. GFD returned to station at 2 p.m.
