Search warrant served in home invasion case

INDIANAPOLIS -- Local authorities believe they are a step closer to solving an April 2 home invasion after serving a search warrant on Monday.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department detectives and deputies, working in conjunction with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police, served the warrant on the near southeast side of Indianapolis.

Working with the SWAT Team and auto theft detective from IMPD, local investigators collected evidence they believe link the residence and its occupants to the home invasion at 6837 W. CR 75 South (West Walnut).

"The evidence we collected out of there has brought our investigation into clear focus," PCSD Det. Pat McFadden said. "We're now centered on a solid set of suspects."

In serving the warrant, IMPD officers arrested all five occupants of the Indianapolis home on Marion County charges.

No Putnam County charges have yet been filed, but McFadden said he believes in due time, the evidence collected can bring the case to a close.

The original incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 2, when four people, all armed, forced their way through the front door of the rural Madison Township home.

The suspects then held the two residents, a man and a woman, at gunpoint for close to an hour while ransacking the house before making away with an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuables.

  • I agree! Criminals are coming from Indy knowing we let them off easy here. If prosecuting to the full extent of the law is too much effort, then step down and make room for someone who will!

  • I hope when they are captured they get the highest possible sentence. NO PLEA BARGAIN. Putnam County is becoming well known for home invasions, child molesters, meth, and domestic violence. They need to start making these criminals do the time.
