County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 7:35 p.m. Jeffrey Kieth Williams, 61, Danville, was lodged at the jail for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

• At 12:14 p.m. Rodney Brian Amonette, 51, Coatesville, was taken into custody for public intoxication.

• At 11:22 a.m. Shannon Faye Walker, 27, Roachdale, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 9:06 a.m. Jacob Raymond Archer, 39, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for criminal mischief and theft.

• At 7 a.m. Juifria Alina Maynard, 30, Greencastle, was arrested on a court order.

Friday

• At 5:08 p.m. Melissa Ann Miller, 39, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:16 p.m. Jeremy Dale West, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to three recent property-damage accidents.

• At 9:09 p.m. on Monday, Kyla R. Norman, 30, Roachdale, was westbound on State Road 36 about 200 feet west of County Road 475 West in a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when he hit a deer.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damages at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 4:19 p.m. on Monday, Angela M. Garl, 38, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 50 North in a South Putnam school bus.

Garl told Deputy Josh Boller she drove past the residence of her last student to drop off. She backed up, not noticing the passenger vehicle behind the bus.

Danielle R. Trueblood, 27, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria. She said the bus stopped, then began to back up, causing heavy front end damage to her car.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 9:54 p.m. on Saturday, Kerrin D. Szewc, 32, Bainbridge, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2015 Chrysler.

Szewc told Deputy Robert Soilleux a pig crossed into the road and he could not avoid a collision.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to six dispatches and one medical assist.

• At 3:37 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 330 Greenwood Ave. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 3:59 p.m.

• At 5:38 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of a gas leak at 437 Anderson St. GFD monitored the air and detected a small leak. GFD subsequently shut off the gas to the building and contacted Vectren for repairs. GFD returned to station at 5:58 p.m.

• At 9:11 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to smoking at 109 W. Hanna St. (building four). GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 9:19 p.m.

• At 5:33 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 106 S. Spring St. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 5:43 p.m.

• At 9:01 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to reports of a structure fire but was disregarded en route to 3309 S. County Road 675 East. GFD subsequently returned to station at 9:06 p.m.

• At 9:56 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a carbon-monoxide alarm and performed an odor investigation at 1401 Windemere Dr. GFD monitored the air but found nothing. GFD determined a faulty detector head within the alarm system to be the cause and returned to station at 10:15 p.m.
