CLOVERDALE -- Indiana Conservation Officers responded to a call Saturday afternoon about an injured teenage hiker who fell from a Lieber State Recreation Area trail.

About 2 p.m., a 17-year-old hiker reportedly lost his footing while hiking an area away from the marked trail and fell approximately 20 feet onto the shoreline at Cataract Falls.

The victim, who suffered a broken left arm in the accident, was retrieved with a boat maneuvered downstream from a flooded roadway before being transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Indiana Conservation Officers are currently investigating the incident, but it does not appear to be anything more than an accident, officials reported.

All hikers are cautioned to obey property signs and trail markers when utilizing hiking trails on state property.

Owen County Sheriff's Department, Owen County Ambulance Service and Owen County Water Rescue assisted at the scene.
