County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Friday

• At 12:58 a.m. Heather Dawn Stiver, 36, Poland, was lodged at the jail for auto theft.

Thursday

• At 8:38 p.m. Joshua Lee Kelso, 29, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for failure to appear.

• At 1:56 p.m. Billy Aaron Barnett, 19, Greencastle, was arrested on a local warrant.

• At 12:52 p.m. Cory Seth Shaul, 27, Anderson, was housed at the jail for resisting law enforcement, battery and on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 11:39 a.m. Kyle Thomas Ordway, 25, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 8:40 a.m. Jennifer Lynn Allen, 39, Brownsburg, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

City Police

One arrest was reported Thursday night by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 7:52 p.m., Samantha Hanners, 26, Greencastle, was arrested at an Avenue B residence by Officer Kyle Lee.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Hanners is facing charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and resisting law enforcement.

One summons was also issued recently by GPD officers.

• At 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Drew Evans, 27, Greencastle, was issued a summons by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Stopped at Wendy’s on Indianapolis Road, Evans was cited for a second-time offense of operating a motor vehicle without ever having obtained a license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to one recent property-damage accident.

• At 5:56 a.m. on Thursday, Jennifer L. Allen, 39, Brownsburg, was northbound on County Road 550 East, approaching County Road 1000 South in a 1999 Lincoln Continental when she lost control.

Allen told Deputy Josh Boller a deer ran into the road and she drove into the ditch.

She was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 8:40 a.m. for operating while intoxicated.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

Deputy Scott Ducker assisted at the scene.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches and one medical run.

• At 3:21 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 807 S. College Ave. The alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to unknown reasons. Issues with the alarm system there have persisted for weeks despite the alarm company’s recent replacement of the system. The alarm company was informed of the situation before GFD reset the alarm and subsequently returned to station at 3:41 p.m.

• At 5:28 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to reports of an outside trash fire at 91 Ridgeway St. GFD received a direct call from a concerned citizen, prompting crews to investigate. GFD extinguished the flames and advised the resident of city burning ordinances before returning to station at 5:54 p.m.

• At 12:13 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 101 E. Seminary St. The alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to unknown reasons. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 12:24 p.m.
