Fort Wayne woman arrested in PCF trafficking incident
PUTNAMVILLE -- A 47-year-old Fort Wayne woman had plans to visit an incarcerated offender over the weekend at the Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) but instead wound up in the Putnam County Jail.
Catherine Robinson was met by Correctional Police Officer (CPO) Fernell McDonald and Investigation and Intelligence Officer Angela Taylor upon being processed for her PCF visit. During questioning, Robinson surrendered two hidden balloons filled with suspected synthetic marijuana.
She was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the jail, facing preliminary charges of trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony punishable by 1-6 years in prison.
The inmate she intended to visit, Rick Robinson, is currently serving multiple sentences out of Allen County, including a 20-year conviction for felony firearm possession, possession of a controlled substance, criminal confinement and intimidation.
Offender Robinson, who currently has an earliest possible release date of July 18, 2022, is being investigated and held in the facility's restricted housing unit.
PCF Supt. Brian Smith praised the facility staff for scuttling the latest trafficking attempt at the prison.
"This is another example of the facility working together to prevent contraband from coming in," Smith said. "We have dedicated staffs that will assist every day to continue bringing down those that want to traffic into our facility."
