Youth basketball camp dates, times established

Youth basketball camps are planned at all Putnam County schools this summer.

The schedule:

Cloverdale

Coach Patrick Rady will have five weeks of camp this summer.

Greencastle

The Greencastle boys’ basketball program will host its 2017 summer skills camp on June 19-21 at McAnally Center.

The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades one through eight. Grades one through four will meet daily from 5-6:30 p.m. while grades five through eight will run from 7-8:30 p.m.

The three days will feature instruction on fundamentals including dribbling, passing, shooting, defense and footwork plus daily scrimmages.

Contest winners will receive a “Camp Champ” T-shirt in addition to their camp shirt.

Cost is $30 per player and includes a T-shirt. Make checks payable to Greencastle Boys’ Basketball. Registration forms are available in the school office.

Coaches includes varsity head coach Bryce Rector; assistant coaches Rob York, Craig Whitaker, Parker Aul, Ryan Rebholz and Nate Kober; and 2017-18 Greencastle basketball players.

South Putnam

South Putnam will host its annual summer basketball camp for boys entering grades 2-8 on June 5-8 and 12-15.

Directed by the high school coaching staff and players, the eight-day camp takes place in the Central Elementary gym. Camp for grades two through five is set for 9-10 a.m. each day, while the middle school session is set for 10-11:15 a.m.

Cost is $40 per camper or $35 for families with multiple campers. Make all checks payable to South Putnam Boys’ Basketball Boosters. Each camper receives a T-shirt and ball.

North Putnam

The 2017 North Putnam youth basketball camp will be held June 5-8 for boys and girls entering grades 1-6.

Campers in grade levels 1-3 will be 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., while campers in grade levels 4-6 will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Each camper will receive a T-shirt for attending the camp and also have opportunities to compete in contests to win prizes.

There will be coaches and players from both of the high school basketball programs there to help instruct the campers every day.

The cost is $15, and registration forms are availble in the school office or the North Putnam athletic website.
