BRAZIL — The Brazil Concert Band will present “Superstars on Parade” at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 4 for its first Sunday concert of 2017 at Forest Park, rain or shine.

The BCB performs every Sunday evening during June, July and August.

Director Matthew S. Huber and the BCB will dedicate “Jesus Christ Superstar” in memory of Susan Sneddon who played bells in the BCB and was well known throughout musical circles in the Wabash Valley.

This arrangement by Henry Mancini and set for band by John Moss includes “Everything’s Alright”, “King Herod’s Song”, “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” and “Superstar”.

For the World War I centennial, the BCB will perform “Bullets and Bayonets” by Lt. John Philip Sousa, who organized bands for the Navy during the Great War.

New to the BCB is “Humoresque on Swanee,” which is a comic piece Sousa wrote based on “Swanee” by George Gershwin.

BCB trombonist and recent ISU graduate Eric Hibbets wrote a band arrangement of the hymn “Benediction,” which will premier under Eric’s direction.

This week, the BCB will also perform “Turn Back O Man” by Gustav Holst, “Russian Polka” by Rachmaninoff, “Tin Pan Gallery” by Yoder, “The American Red Cross” by Panella, “Cyrus The Great” by King, “Wisconsin Forward Forever” by Sousa and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The First United Methodist Church will be serving walking tacos and nachos with cheese before and during the concert.

The Jackson Township Community Band will be on parade and in concert June 3rd in Merom at 11 a.m. for the parade and 12:30 p.m. for the concert.
