Something to Taco ’Bout

Tuesday, June 6, 2017
With kid-favorite selections the likes of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches and tacos, members of the Haddon family accept free lunch-time meals from Summer Food Service Program Tuesday at Robe-Ann Park. While Emmie and Hunter spar over their favorite snacks, Clay, Bailey and mother Melissa Haddon wait patiently during the second-annual summer program, which volunteer Nicole Dearinger says is “definitely starting out better this year than last year; I think we’re getting more momentum going each year. Last year, since it was so new, people didn’t know it was for everyone and not just students.” Anyone can receive meals through the program, though adults 18 and older must pay $2 with all meals eaten on site. Locations this summer include Ridpath Primary, Tzouanakis Intermediate and Greencastle High School in addition to Robe-Ann Park. The program will run each weekday through July 14 at Robe-Ann and Ridpath, and through June 30 at both Tzouanakis and GHS. For more information, contact GCSC Director of Food Services Debbie Carrico at 653-3725.
