Pedestrian struck at Groveland BP

GROVELAND — An 81-year-old Coatesville man was transported to an area hospital Tuesday after being struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Groveland BP.

Emergency agencies were called to the convenience store on East U.S. 36 at 7:40 a.m.

The preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police Senior Trooper John Myers revelayed that 19-year-old Levi T. Purdue of Greencastle was backing a 2002 Chevrolet pickup out of a parking spot when he struck John C. Swisher, who was walking across the lot.

Swisher was transported to Hendricks Regional Health for treatment of lacerations and abrasions.

Assisting agencies included Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Putnam County Operation Life and Roachdale Fire/Rescue.
