Sheriff’s Department

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 11:37 p.m. David M. Moeller, 34, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 3:41 a.m. Jonathon Cole Muse, 25, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for criminal mischief and two counts of resisting law enforcement.

• At 1:11 a.m. Matthew Creed Richardson, 42, Greencastle, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 9:58 p.m. Steven Wayne Hutcheson, 39, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated-refusal.

• At 2:49 a.m. Anthony Wayne Ray, 35, Indianapolis, was arrested on a Morgan County warrant.

Friday

• At 12:46 a.m. Gabriel Kay McCammack, 26, Coatesville, was booked in for driving a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more and driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:46 p.m. John Richard Dye, 57, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

• At 3:39 p.m. Justin William Cherry, 28, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on local warrants for robbery, burglary and auto theft.

• At 8:04 a.m. Jeremiah Cole Bowden, 23, Plainfield, was housed at the jail on a theft warrant.

• At 3:35 a.m. Daniel Leo Frye, 43, Brazil, was charge with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Four recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:11 p.m. Friday, Capt. Charles Inman was summoned to Charlie’s on Bloomington Street on the report of a man possibly using drugs in the restaurant bathroom.

However, when officers arrived, they found the suspect, Jeffrey Gardner, 49, Greencastle, sitting outside.

Gardner was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a synthetic cannabinoid (aka spice) and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

• At 7:36 a.m. Friday, two persons were arrested by Officer Elsiana Crosby at McClure’s on Bloomington Street and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Summer McCandless-Brown, 22, Terre Haute, was charged with illegal possession of a syringe, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, false informing and assisting a criminal.

At the same time and place, James Mackey, 35, Brazil, was arrested for false informing, giving a false identification statement and on a Clay County warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

• At 11:53 p.m. Thursday, Caitlyn Gibson, 24, Greencastle, was arrested for theft by Officer Crosby at McClure’s on Bloomington Street.

Gibson, was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, reportedly took a Squatch XXL beef jerky stick valued at $1.99.

Two summons were issued recently by city officers.

• At 4:13 a.m. Sunday, Trevvor Stewart, 22, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Brad Hiatt on Highfall Avenue.

Stewart was issued a summons into court on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Lora Pingleton, 53, Greencastle, was stopped on East Franklin Street by Officer Hiatt.

Pingleton was issued a summons into court on a charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to a pair of recently property-damage accidents.

• At 5:40 p.m. on Friday, Blake M. Hopper, 33, Reelsville, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 1996 Toyota Corolla.

Deputy Robert Soilleux reported that as Hopper was negotiating a right-hand curve, the car started to hydroplane, spinning 180 degrees and leaving the road, hitting a mailbox.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Roger D. Heitzman, 27, Rockville, was northbound on State Road 243 in a 2006 Hyundai Elantra when the rear-end of the vehicle lost traction.

This caused the car to hit a guadrail on the east side of the road. The vehicle continued to spin and the driver’s side also hit the guardrail.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to two dispatches.

• At 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to reports of an oven fire at 1003 Avenue E. Only smoke was observed by GFD as no fire was found. GFD ventilated and turned off the power to the residence before returning to station at 4:27 p.m.

• At 4:27 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at Autumn Glen, 98 N. 10th St. However, GFD was disregarded upon arrival. GFD subsequently returned to station at 4:42 p.m.
