Several awards, grants and scholarships were passed out at the recent South Putnam Alumni Banquet.

The Administrator/Teacher Hall of Fame award went to the late James Hammond. The award was accepted by his wife and family.

The newest Alumni Hall of Fame member was Boyd Goodson who currently serves as a professor at Southern Illinois University where he is working on ways to improve medical diagnosis by improving the MRI machines to give a better picture of the patient.

Teacher Grants were awarded to Carmen Cash who will purchase take-home packets that encourage students to study with their parents, while Emily Brinkman will use her grant to begin work on an outdoor learning center. Her grant will also include some of the wood that had been donated to the Education Foundation. Jennifer Laser was the final grant winner. She will be providing special magazines for her English/Language arts students at the South Putnam Middle School. The SPC Education Foundation presented a $750 scholarship to Kaitlyn Rector to further her studies after high school graduation. To close out the banquet Jonah Sanders was the recipient of the Wildman Leadership Scholarship.

The banquet attendees also enjoyed hearing from the classes of 1976, 1977, 1991 and 1992. Next year we plan to recognize the classes of 1978 and 1993 along with inviting the entire South Putnam Community to enjoy the evening and support the South Putnam students and teachers.

The Foundation Board is currently seeking volunteers to serve on its Endowment Campaign Committee to help provide additional funding for the teacher grants and scholarships.
