Applicants sought for Madison Township position on school board

Thursday, July 6, 2017

According to a public notice recently released by the Madison Township Advisory Board, applications are now being accepted for its appointee on Greencastle Community Schools’ five-member school board.

A seat held by board member Dale Pierce since July 2013, the position represents the township’s lone voice in the happenings at GCSC. Pierce previously spent 17 years on the board and was again appointed by the Madison Township trustee in 2013, replacing three-term member Mike Dean.

Following protocol, Pierce will continue to fill the position until the Madison Township Advisory Board and the Madison Township Trustee decide to either reappoint Pierce or replace him with a successor.

The corporation’s five-member board is comprised of appointed positions filled by various advisory boards within the district. Board President Denise Sigworth is one of two members appointed by the City of Greencastle, the other being member Lisa Lazar, while members Bill Tobin and Michael White are both appointed by Greencastle Township.

Those intending to apply for the board position may send a letter of interest to: 8036 W. County Road 125 North, Greencastle, IN, c/o Madison Twp. Trustee.

Deadline for submission is Saturday, July 15. The Madison Township Board will then meet the next day at 6 p.m. at the Madison Township VFD to select an appointee.

Those with questions may contact Madison Township Trustee Jeff Alexander at 765-739-1227.
