One killed in semi crash on Interstate 70

A 59-year-old Colorado man was killed in a semi crash on Interstate 70 in eastern Putnam County Friday afternoon.

At 1:30 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a semi crash on I-70 near the 45.5 mile marker.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Volvo semi was eastbound when it lost control for unknown reasons, leaving the road and striking a guardrail.

The driver, whose name is not being released until family has been notified. was transported to the Putnam County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper DuJuan McFadden. Assisting were ISP Trooper Yan Dravigne and Sgt. Chris Wright.

  • Not really sure how you can say he was killed in the wreck. He hit a guardrail but he clearly had a medical issue causing him to do so.
