Cub cheer team wins county title

Greencastle celebrates its county and spirit awards after Saturday's Putnam County Cheerleading competition.

ROACHDALE — Visiting teams captured all three division titles at the Putnam County Cheerleading Competition held in conjunction with the Putnam County Fair on Saturday.

For the second straight year, weather concerns forced the event to be moved from the Fairgrounds to a neighboring high school — with North Putnam serving as the substitute host.

Tri-West emerged as the winners of both the Large Varsity and Freshman divisions, while Mooresville captured the Small Varsity division title.

Greencastle won the Putnam County championship for the third year in the varsity division, and — spurred on by a large and loud contingent of jersey-clad football players — also won the Spirit Award.

North Putnam’s Addie Reeves was chosen as the Outstanding Senior Cheerleader from Putnam County.

Freshman Division
