Live music in four spots for First Friday

With songs ringing out to the north, east, south and ... farther south, First Friday in downtown Greencastle promises to be another tuneful evening.

Sponsored by First National Bank, the next installment of First Friday is set for Friday, Aug. 4.

With Phillip Stevens and the Open Road headlining at 7 p.m., the Franklin Street Stage on the north side of the Courthouse will also feature DJ Figgy Hardwick at 5:30 p.m. and a demonstration from Becky Howard’s Pound Fitness at 6.

As always, Swizzle Stick staples War Radio will play the Franklin Street bar from 9 p.m.-midnight.

On East Franklin Street, Wasser Beer will have live music from Cow Tippers at 8 p.m.

South Franklin Street will have music from ZooSoul Drum Circle from 5:30-7:30 p.m., giving drummers of all ages a chance to make music.

MLE band, sponsored by Moore’s Bar and Tap House 24, will headline the south stage at 8 p.m. The two bars are also sponsoring a beer garden.

Another block to the south, the Inn at DePauw will have live music from Istvan Csicsery-Ronay and Julianna Goldsmith under the Vine Street pergola from 6-9 p.m.

Participating restaurants with First Friday Specials include Myers’ 5 East, Wasser Beer, Almost Home/Swizzle Stick, Scoops, Moore’s Bar, Tap House 24, Completely Nuts and Candy and the Inn at DePauw.

Event sponsor First National Bank will also have a tent set up with a number of giveaways.

A number of other businesses and downtown organizations will open their doors for specials, sales, giveaways and tours, including Castlemakers, the Greencastle Farmers Market, Conspire: Contemporary Craft, Crickets and the Community Collaboration Art Gallery hosted by Putnam County Convention and Vistors Bureau.

Participating vendor booths will feature Bear Threads, Scentsy, Thirty One, Avon, LuLaRoe, Honey Wood Creations, Paparazzi, LizaJo Boutique and Origami Owl.
