While the first day of school can be an emotional time for students and parents, happiness reigns Friday morning as Deer Meadow Primary students in Greencastle make their way to school for opening day. Second-grader Damian Meadows (above) holds the hand of little sister and kindergartner Zora Meadows as they skip joyfully from the bus to the building. Meanwhile, mom Hope Daniels gets in one last hug from daughter Justus Daniels as her nephew, Eli Daniels, waits to head into school. Greencastle and South Putnam schools started classes Friday with North Putnam and Cloverdale going back on Monday.
