CLOVERDALE -- A routine traffic stop along Interstate 70 in Putnam County Thursday resulted in the arrest of two Missouri men on drug charges.

Thursday morning at 7:45, an Indiana State Police trooper was working along I-70, five miles west of Cloverdale, when the trooper observed a black Chevrolet Cruze.

The car was traveling eastbound near the 36-mile marker with its registration improperly displayed, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported. A subsequent traffic stop was initiated and during the stop several indicators of possible criminal activity were detected, authorities said.

A request for K-9 assistance was answered by an Indiana State Police K-9 handler and a free-air sniff resulted in a "positive indication" on the back passenger side of the vehicle.

A subsequent search yielded one package estimated to be a kilo of suspected cocaine. Estimated street value of a kilo, or approximately 2.2 pounds, of cocaine is approximately $100,000.

Alberto Castro Analco, 27, and Ivan Pedro Mirares Roldan, 30, both of Kansas City, were arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

They are facing identical charges of dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug (a Level 2 felony) and possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug (a Level 3 felony).
